BWS Monitoring
Archaeological Monitoring and Burial Treatment during Water Main Replacement, Various Locations, Hawaii

Since 2006, PCSI has been contracted by the City and County of Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) to support five separate water main replacement projects throughout the County.  PCSI’s responsibilities on these projects have included archaeological monitoring during excavation, recovery and proper treatment of human burials discovered during excavation, laboratory analysis of cultural materials unearthed during construction, preparation of required monitoring and burial treatment reports, and coordination with the State Historic Preservation Office on compliance matters.  BWS has ranked PCSI’s performance as “outstanding” on two of the three completed projects, and “satisfactory” on the third.
