Melanie Mintmier

Melanie Mintmier has 10 years experience in archaeological research in Hawaii, New Zealand, Alaska and the U.S. mainland.  Her research specialty is in the area of lithic analysis and interpretation.  She has conducted extensive research at Haleakalā National Park addressing natural resource use at the Haleakalā adze quarry and associated political/economic implications.  She has also worked as an NPS archaeologist in Maui, responsible for site monitoring, site recording, laboratory evaluations and reporting.

As a contract archaeologist, Ms. Mintmier has participated in the planning and execution of a wide range of cultural resource management activities, including archaeological surveys, site recording, monitoring, subsurface testing, laboratory testing, preservation planning and preparation of NRHP nomination forms.
