Archaeological Inventory Surveys (AISs)
If it likely that a property to be developed contains historic sites or significant cultural materials, the State will require that the property be surveyed by a qualified archaeologist before approving the development plans.  The Archaeological Inventory Survey (AIS) is a focused effort involving background research, locating and mapping of historic properties found on the site and interpreting of the significance of the sites. Recommendations are also provided on future treatment of the sites, if warranted.
